FoodIRL + Facebook = BFFs

Have you heard of this new website called The Facebook? One of my friends told me about it, and I think it’s going to be pretty popular. I’m always up for trying new things, so I made a Facebook Fan Page for Food In Real Life.

If you’re on Facebook too, why not become a fan of FoodIRL and recommend it to your friends? Then you don’t have to load up this crummy old website to see when there’s a new post; you can just obsessively reload your Facebook page to see an announcement from FoodIRL there! Progress certainly is grand, is it not?

On an unrelated note (but certainly under the category of “food in real life”), here is a picture of my dog eating a hot dog. As you can see, he is the world’s only vegetarian dog, opting to toss the meat and feast on the bread and relish.

El Monterey Chicken Club Tornados

Looks: The taquitos on the box looks more like they’re breaded and baked, but the real-life product is obviously more likely battered and fried. The filling doesn’t come off as “appetizing” like it almost does on the box either. 3.5 out of 5

Taste: What you see is what you get. By that, I mean that you barely see the filling, and you barely taste it too. I tried both this chicken ranch flavor as well as a pepperoni variant, and I couldn’t tell them apart – the shell is the only taste that stands out. The tortilla wrapping is satisfying though – crunchy and crispy, with definite layers, so I can’t give it too low a score. 2.5 out of 5

Looks: The “cake” portion of these cake and sugar sandwiches doesn’t have the slightly browned and cracked cake exterior as the cakes on the box, and the white filling could use a kick in the pants. Also, no clouds in sight. 4 out of 5

Taste: Do you want a snack that is simultaneously so dry that your tongue becomes a useless slab of flesh, so sweet that your teeth cry out in pain, but yet delicious enough that you keep shoving them into your mouth? Have a Golden Oreo Cakester! (By the way, they don’t taste anything like oreos.) 3 out of 5

Grands! Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuit

Looks: It didn’t bake up quite as flat as the one on the packaging, but overall color and texture are close enough. 4 out of 5

Taste: Like a little circle of heaven. Just kidding – it was good though; warm, chewy, with a crusty outside. Really, what else is there to say about the taste of a biscuit? 4 out of 5
