Barber Foods Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Looks: Even before cooking, all of the portions were split open on top, exposing the not-quite-the-right-red marinara filling. The chicken doesn’t have the same meaty mass as the box pictures, but the crust and chicken are the correct color, so it’s got that going for it (which is nice). Oh, and the plate pictured on the box would have to be at most four inches in diameter. 3 out of 5

Taste: Confusing. My tastebuds were like “Mmmm, I like these tastes,” but my mouth was like “Uhhhh, I’m not so sure about these textures.” The crust was flavorful and a little crunchy, and the sauce made up for the chicken’s dryness, but none of the textures meshed together. It was more like I was eating some breading and also some chicken and also some sauce that just happened to be sitting next to each other. 3 out of 5

Do NOT buy the Barber foods brand stuffing stuffed chicken breast. My kids love stuffing, and don’t like the Kiev or Cordon Bleu chicken, so I bought it. First off I thought they put the wrong product in the box. It looked like the twice baked potatoes that come in the little paper boats. There were two paper boats each had about 3 ounces of stuffing with a 2 – 2.5 ounce piece of chicken on top of it. Therefore it isn’t stuffed. Tossing a little piece of chicken on top of something does not make stuffed chicken. The chicken itself is not breaded and had some paprika-like spice on it. It tasted okay. Yeah, just okay. They charged the same amount for that as other companies that sell REAL stuffed chicken breasts. On the back of the box I saw the website for feedback. When I tried to go there the entire site was down.

I agree, we eat it all the time and never looks anything similar to this photo. It looks like you’ve microwaved it 3 times over..

I did cook these in the oven; I’ll have to try and find the Cordon Bleu to see if it’s any better.

I like the Barber Foods Chicken Cordon Bleu, it turns out fantastic in the oven. None of these sorts of stuffed chicken things is any good when microwaved.

Schwan’s Home Delivery also sells stuffed chicken cordon bleu, chicken parmesan, and chicken kiev. I’m wondering if it’s the same thing as this, just more expensive.

About 10 years ago, I used to buy these all the time, they were expensive and worth it. It used to be real chicken, now it is some sort of chicken foam. They are more widely available now and much cheaper, but sadly, a mere shadow of what they used to be. Chicken shouldn’t have bubbles.

Chicken breast- made of rib meat. Yeah. Not really chicken breast, is it?
