Bertolli Shrimp Scampi and Linguine

Looks: In my experience, Bertolli’s Skillet Meals are always represented quite accurately on the packaging, and the Shrimp Scampi is no exception. While the shrimp don’t quite have the color or heft of the shrimp on the package, and the peppers are overrepresented on the box by about 25%, the overall texture, color, and amount of the food is very close. 4.5 out of 5

Taste: Every time I have one of Bertolli’s Skillet Meals, I am very impressed by the quality. It’s essentially a flash-frozen bag of all the ingredients that you just heat it up in a skillet until the sauce melts, so finding out that the pasta has the right amount of bite and the sauce actually tastes good was quite a surprise. In the Shrimp Scampi, the pasta was perfect, the shrimp weren’t rubbery like frozen shrimp can tend to be, but the peppers were a little bit soggy. 4.5 out of 5

I don’t know—those shrimp look awfully anemic to me.

Bertolli’s frozen meals are definitely among the best frozen dinners I’ve ever had. They’re dead simple to cook, but they don’t taste simple.

Not a complete coincidence – we have a few sets of forks, and one of them happened to be pretty close to the one Bertolli used, so I went and specifically used that one.

Looking at it for a while, and maybe what I’m really missing is the brown plate… but that fork looks really close to the one on the box… coincidence?

they look pretty close to me. keep in mind that when the box shows a picture of the food, the picture is taken with perfect lighting, and fresh ingredients and most of all, the photos are enhanced

kinda like when you see a model in a magazine then you see the same model in a youtube video or taken by a news reporter, you will see how the magazine photos have been enhanced to look more perfect. the same goes for food, but personally I find it deceptive.

a better solution would be for the government to pass a advertising law that if a company makes a food item, that they are required to have the advertising company take a product off a store shelf or the would be product (since it will not be released to stores yet) then they take a picture of the item and that goes on the box that way if companies what to have a good cover then they will have to actually make a good product)

Looking at the color of the shrimp and the general ‘greasy’ appearance, I was guessing the Looks score would be 4 or lower… just didn’t look that close to me.
